Things change.
Like the leaves in Fall, never the same as they are now.
Each night gives way to a new day, each day fades to night.
 People, like things, change.

We learn, we live, we grow, each moment, every breath, will be different than the one before.
We can look to the past, we can remember, but never go back.

What Would You Do?

Imagine this, its 2am September 8th 2011. Its been raining heavily and the weather service is calling for flooding in the area. The streets are getting bad. Buses are doing evacuations for people who don't have a way out. Then you hear it, its 3am. The National Guard comes down the street and basically says pack your shit you gotta go. Now. Bags packed and thrown into the truck you have to find some place to go and every major route out of your town is blocked off 10,000 people are evacuated in the first hours. Within 24 hours 30,000 people are evacuated to shelters. Towns are under water. You finally arrive at a shelter on the local university's event center. At first light you try to find a way out of town again only to find the flooding has gotten worse. The only way out is a two hour trek up, through and around the mountains, you take it gladly. Over the next six days you battle the worry of not having a home to return to, where you are going to sleep, food etc. No power, no water, no gas... The stoneage. You sleep in your car, you drive for miles and hours at a time to try to find a place to stay. You still don't know if you have a home to return to. THAT is the worst part, not knowing. You battle it out with ignorant asshole cops who are too busy trying to show everyone how big their dicks are to be of any help, You deal with crazy people. Your first thought when you wake up is what are we going to do now? You have it worse than some, better than others but you survive. Now, add three more people and a baby. Tell me, honestly, would you leave them behind?

Its Better This Way

Was It Ever Real?

You knew. Knew it would be hard and still you said yes. You said you wanted what you wanted and the details be damned. I dropped my walls and let you in, wanted and willed things to work. So why then, at the first sigh of a hard time, you folded like a cheap piece of cardboard and threw me away easy as yesterdays scraps? Threw around words and promises as carefree as a child with a toy. You knew. Just one question, was it ever real at all?

From the Front Porch

Sitting on the front porch sipping moonshine watching the moon shine
the smell of bonfire heavy in the air
taking me back to simpler times and better nights
that unseen fire burning in my soul

The Code

The first time I read this it was like someone had ripped the thoughts directly from my mind.
Its called The Biker's Code but it has everything to do with being a man.

"THE BIKER'S CODE"

-Author Unknown–
As an old scooter bro once said, "It's every tramp's job to school the young. How else are they gonna know a Panhead from a bed pan?"

Take heed, brothers and sisters, for our Code is a hallowed one filled with honor and loyalty, the likes of which have not been since the days of knighthood:

Don't take any bullshit. Be kind to women, children and animals, but don't take any bullshit. This is an essential part of being a biker. It has to do with respect and honor. Anyone can be a quick-tempered fool. Be cool, stand tall and backup what you say with action.

Never lie, cheat or steal. Another way of saying this is to always tell the truth. Bikers know that his word is his bond. Your word is all you have in life that is truly yours. Guard it carefully and be something noble, for you are a true knight of the road.

Don't snitch. If you see a wrong, fight it yourself, if you are about anything you'll take care of problems yourself and never feel the need to snitch someone off. Snitches are the lowest life forms on earth, right up there with biker thieves.

Don't Whine. Absolutely no one likes or respects a whiner. Another way to say this is hold your mud. Still another way to think of it is, "Don't sweat the small stuff" Most of life's little inconveniences work themselves out whether you whine or not. Keep your chin up, dammit! You're a biker, not some lowly snail. Never say die and never give up. Whether it's in a fight, a debate, or a business deal, no matter how bad it gets, a biker never gives up.

Help others. When a brother or sister is broken down by the side of the road, always stop and help them. Even moral support, if that is all you can give, is better than riding on by. Remember life is about the journey, the ride, not getting there. You already are there. And don't just help bikers, show the world that we are better than our image portrays us. Courtesy costs you nothing and gives you everything.

Stick to your guns. Do what you say you'll do, be there when you say you will. This is called integrity. This also goes back to standing for something. Like the song says, "You've got to stand for something or you'll fall for anything." Life is not a drill. Yeah, this ain't no dress rehearsal.

This is life -- go out and take big bites of it. You've got no time to lose and bikers don't stand around waiting for the party to come to them. You only go around once. Tomorrow you could be road kill, thanks to a cell phone user texting at the wheel of his or her cage. Live life now, make the most of each moment.

All right, now let's review. You are a biker, a modern-day knight of the road. Protect the weak, walk tall and stand proud. Your word is your bond. Stick to your guns. Don't take any bullshit. Life is not a drill. Now go forth and ride. When in doubt, ride. That's what we do...ride. If you want to ride around in a Day-Glo Hawaiian shirt and sandals, go for it, but if you intend to look like an idiot, at least don't act like an idiot.

These commandments are just a few of the broad strokes, there is a lot more to being a biker than buying a bike. If you just buy a bike, you are a motorcyclist. Being a biker is a way of life, a proud way of life we hold in high regard with a burning passion for the open highway.

What say you?

Old Dogs, Children, and Watermelon Wine

Not usually one for this kind of thing but...

OK, I just saw an article on MSN.com that instantly pissed me off. " Why Everyone Should Love $5 A Gallon." I don't know about you but just the title alone makes me go all "kiss my ass" and the best reasons they could come up with are what goes up must come down and it MIGHT end wars. I'm all for no more war but seriously? I don't think having to spend $100 dollars to fill up my car is gonna do it.

Random Writings at 3am Thanks to Jimi Hendrix

Sitting, drinking 80 proof

Someone told me at the bottom would be all my answers and truth

Whiskey burns my throat, my mind is swimming

Fighting the fog, its a battle I'm not winning

The Devil, He's sitting on my shoulder, just grinning

He knows where I'm headed, knows this is only the beginning

The bottles getting lighter, thoughts start to flatline

Its only a matter of time

Everything goes black

I wake up on the floor carpet lines all over my back

Sunlight burns my eyes, my mind is screaming

I have no answers only more questions

The Devil He's sittin on my shoulder laughing, fuckin demon

All I'm doin is pissin 80 proof

...

You know, its funny how sitting alone watching the flame of a candle flicker can bring up so many memories, how little things can spark so much emotion. They can bring you right back to a time of great joy, unimaginable loss, or boundless love. They can warm you to the very center of your soul or cut you like the sharpest knife. So I sit here, thinking, watching the flame dance to its own unheard song, and I think of her....

Burning Bridges

The Hello was a foundation

A beginning to a great project

Time, words, promises, love

All building blocks

A question asked, A promise made

Plans put into motion

The plug was pulled

The only one thing left to do

Tear it down

Better Idea, Burn that Bridge

No words, no promises

Just a little gas

One little match

Walk away

Nothing is left but the ashes

Ashes of the love

The love that like that bridge

Burning bright thru the Night

Dawn breaks

A New project begins.

The Truth about Introverts

Myth #1 – Introverts don’t like to talk.

This is not true. Introverts just don’t talk unless they have something to say. They hate small talk. Get an introvert talking about something they are interested in, and they won’t shut up for days.

Myth #2 – Introverts are shy.

Shyness has nothing to do with being an Introvert. Introverts are not necessarily afraid of people. What they need is a reason to interact. They don’t interact for the sake of interacting. If you want to talk to an Introvert, just start talking. Don’t worry about being polite.

Myth #3 – Introverts are rude.

Introverts often don’t see a reason for beating around the bush with social pleasantries. They want everyone to just be real and honest. Unfortunately, this is not acceptable in most settings, so Introverts can feel a lot of pressure to fit in, which they find exhausting.

Myth #4 – Introverts don’t like people.

On the contrary, Introverts intensely value the few friends they have. They can count their close friends on one hand. If you are lucky enough for an introvert to consider you a friend, you probably have a loyal ally for life. Once you have earned their respect as being a person of substance, you’re in.

Myth #5 – Introverts don’t like to go out in public.

Nonsense. Introverts just don’t like to go out in public FOR AS LONG. They also like to avoid the complications that are involved in public activities. They take in data and experiences very quickly, and as a result, don’t need to be there for long to “get it.” They’re ready to go home, recharge, and process it all. In fact, recharging is absolutely crucial for Introverts.

Myth #6 – Introverts always want to be alone.

Introverts are perfectly comfortable with their own thoughts. They think a lot. They daydream. They like to have problems to work on, puzzles to solve. But they can also get incredibly lonely if they don’t have anyone to share their discoveries with. They crave an authentic and sincere connection with ONE PERSON at a time.

Myth #7 – Introverts are weird.

Introverts are often individualists. They don’t follow the crowd. They’d prefer to be valued for their novel ways of living. They think for themselves and because of that, they often challenge the norm. They don’t make most decisions based on what is popular or trendy.

Myth #8 – Introverts are aloof nerds.

Introverts are people who primarily look inward, paying close attention to their thoughts and emotions. It’s not that they are incapable of paying attention to what is going on around them, it’s just that their inner world is much more stimulating and rewarding to them.

Myth #9 – Introverts don’t know how to relax and have fun.

Introverts typically relax at home or in nature, not in busy public places. Introverts are not thrill seekers and adrenaline junkies. If there is too much talking and noise going on, they shut down. Their brains are too sensitive to the neurotransmitter called Dopamine. Introverts and Extroverts have different dominant neuro-pathways. Just look it up.

Myth #10 – Introverts can fix themselves and become Extroverts.

Introverts cannot “fix themselves” and deserve respect for their natural temperament and contributions to the human race. In fact, one study (Silverman, 1986) showed that the percentage of Introverts increases with IQ.

Anyone Got Fire and Brimstone Insurance??

Sooooooo, tomorrow is supposed to be the end of the world. More precisely, The Rapture. Jesus is supposed to come down and take all his favored sheep (I probably ain't on the list) and the next 5 months are going to be a zombie filled torture fest that ends with the world wiping itself out. You're a fucking ray of sunshine Harold.

Every Man Dies, Not Every Man Truly Lives...

Do you measure life by the number of years it contains or by the amount of... for lack of a better term... stuff shoved into it? Some people life to be over a hundred years old and never really do anything and some only life for a few short decades but do so much and leave so much behind. Does it equal out? Or is one way better than the other? Is there something wrong with wanting to be remembered? Is there something wrong with not caring if you are or not?  Do you conform to the "norm" of society or rebel and live on the fringe?
Keep your head down and walk away when someone insults you or jack them in the fucking jaw and ask if they want another?

Dealing With the Cards...

What do you do when all the cards you've been dealt are jokers?
Where do you go when every street you go down is a dead end?
What do you do when everything you touch turns to ash?
Who do you turn to when everyone you see is a ghost?
Who do you listen to when there is only silence?
How much time do you give when you don't know how much is left?

Anarchism... stands for liberation of the human mind and the dominion of religion; the liberation of the human body from the dominion of property; liberation from shackles and restraint of government. It stands for social order based on the free grouping of individuals."  -Emma Goldman
